Ernest Martin, Jr. is a Founding and Managing Partner of Martin & Martin LLP.  He brings over 30 years of entrepreneurial experience and business acumen to the practice of law, providing a particular focus in the areas of organizational and financial management and strategic planning for small to mid-sized service businesses.

Ernest advises entrepreneurs and business owners on corporate and commercial transactions. He provides business development plans, which are designed to enhance productivity, revenue and profitability through strategic planning, human resource management and systems development. He also assists clients in dealing with the legal and regulatory issues associated with the creation, purchase, sale, merger and reorganization of companies and business units, as well as creditor and collections matters.

In his role as the firm’s Managing  Partner, Ernest works closely with each of the firm’s group leaders to develop production models to ensure that the firm’s handling of matters is consistent with its clients’ core business objectives. He spearheaded the development of the firm’s proprietary PACE system, which is a sophisticated production operations model that reduces the cycle time of litigation, thereby minimizing the overall cost to clients while improving the quality and efficiency of the firm’s services.

Combining his passion for entrepreneurship with his commitment to community service, Ernest founded 21st Century Empowerment, a non-profit organization designed to provide academic and entrepreneurial training to at-risk youth in Los Angeles County.

 

He has donated hundreds of hours tutoring young men and women in math, accounting, finance and entrepreneurship. He has also mentored many young people from elementary school through the college admission process. Ernest’s work on behalf of youth has been recognized by parents and community leaders as well as the Los Angeles City Council. 

Ernest donates hundreds of hours of  pro bono business consulting and legal representation each year to entrepreneurs and small business owners. He is frequently called upon to provide advice in the areas of career planning and personal financial management.  A serial entrepreneur, Ernest has built companies since he was in high school.

After receiving a B.A. in Economics from Columbia University, Ernest earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School. He also attended the Harvard Graduate School of Business, where his studies focused on accounting, marketing, financial analysis and production operations management. He is a member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern District of California.
