Joel Fischman is an experienced litigator whose practice for the last 25 years has included representing clients in a broad array of civil litigation matters including personal injury, construction defect and  products liability in both state and federal court. He has arbitrated and mediated countless matters with experience in jury and bench trials. 

Joel’s practice is now focused solely on all aspects of the defense of complex workers’ compensation matters. He represents clients in a full range of workplace injury claims, including complex physical and psychiatric injury claims, California Labor Code Section 132a claims, serious and willful misconduct claims, and subrogation matters. He has taken countless depositions involving medical experts, percipient witnesses, claims professionals, and risk managers. Joel has also participated in hundreds of settlement conferences and hearings. 

The hallmark of Joel’s practice is his ability to identify the critical issues that determine a claim’s ultimate value. By making this assessment at the inception of a case, he is able to develop an appropriate plan of action to resolve the claim in a timely manner. Strategic and aggressive, Joel achieves unparalleled results while litigating complex workplace injury claims.  

Graduating magna cum laude and in the top 10 percent of his class from the University of Southern California with a B.A. in Political Science, Joel received his J.D. from the University of California, Davis, where he served as both a Staff Writer and a Research Editor for the UC Davis Law Review. He is admitted to practice before the United States District Court, Central District of California and the U.S. District Court of Appeals, 9th Circuit.
